At that point, you might feel too tired to get started. If you can relate to these scenarios, consider hiring a reputable moving company. Hiring Movers Could Actually Save You Money

Florence Gomez

People often think of hiring movers as a more expensive way to move. After all, you have to pay the movers versus simply doing everything yourself. In some cases, hiring movers may cost you more — at least upfront. But the situation is not as cut and dry as you might assume. From a longer-term perspective, hiring movers can actually save you money on your move. Here's how.

You can drive your personal vehicle to your new home

When you hire movers, they take care of getting all of your items from your old home to your new home. You then just have to worry about yourselves, and your pets and kids if you have them. This means you can generally drive your personal vehicle from one home to the next. You may be able to drive straight through, whereas if you were driving a moving truck, you'd probably want to stop. It is a lot easier and less demanding to make a long road trip in your car than in a moving truck. Plus, you don't have to pay for the moving truck rental or to transport your personal vehicle after the fact.

If items are broken, they'll be covered by insurance

Say you break something in the process of breaking or moving it. That damage is on you, and you'll generally have to pay to replace or repair that item out-of-pocket. Now, say you hire a mover and they accidentally damage something. Most movers have insurance policies that will pay for that damage. Make sure you check that your items are insured by a particular mover before you hire them. Plus, consider that movers tend to be expert packers. They know how to wrap and prepare items for a lower risk of damage, so your stuff is less likely to be ruined if you hire movers.

You won't have to take as much time off from work

If you were to pack and move your own things, you might have to request time off from work to do it. That's money you're not earning. If you were to hire movers, you could work a couple of more days while they are doing the packing and other moving-related tasks.

Is hiring movers the right choice for everyone? Probably not. But when you take these cost-saving benefits into account, it starts to look like a more affordable option for many.
